Endocrine Disruptors
According to the FDA, endocrine disruptors are chemicals that can interfere with your hormones, causing them to misfire, become imbalanced, or stop working altogether.
Some bath and body products may contain synthetic irritants and a large amount of chemical endocrine disruptors.
Some chemicals, including synthetic fragrances and colorants, sodium laurel sulfate, or even pesticides used, can cause skin irritation, allergic reaction, yeast infection, and/or UTI.
Leuan Hughes, emeritus professor of Pediatrics at the University of Cambridge said it best, "...it is possible there are particular individuals who may be more sensitive to the effects of the chemicals, or perhaps are using the products in excess."
NHCO Botanical Bodycare uses an effective combination of naturally derived and organic ingredients to create products that do what they were made to do.
Our goal is to avoid using synthetics that may irritate your skin, avoid exacerbating existing condition, and avoid animal product testing. However, just because a product is natural does not mean that it good for everyone.
Some people's skin is more sensitive than others, and may be susceptible to skin irritation even with completely natural ingredients. As such, NHCO always recommends consulting with your doctor before adopting a new skin or bath regimen if necessary.
Keep in mind that some natural ingredients, such as lavender and tea tree essential oils contain natural chemicals that may act as endocrine disruptors. With that said, NHCO uses safe and recommended dosages of these essential oils in our formulations.
